WELCOME MESSAGE

Babar Badat
President, FIATA

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As President of FIATA I am delighted to invite you to attend our 2018 World Congress which is being held in the historic city of Delhi in India.

For many centuries Delhi has been a dominant trading & commercial centre in northern India. This tradition as well as Delhi’s important role in the economy of modern India makes it a perfect place for FIATA members from all over the world to gather, meet & greet, explore business opportunities and update their knowledge on global logistics, freight forwarding& connectivity issues.

The increase of global production and acceleration of urbanization created a demand for more investment and amplified capacities in logistics. More roads, railways, airports, bridges, ports, and logistics centres are needed, the sustainability, efficiency and effectiveness of which to be brought about by intelligent IT solutions. Investment into our industry’s human resources must ensure that freight forwarders are prepared to meet future challenges. All these objectives and dynamics are condensed into our Congress theme ”The Future Starts Here”.

This year’s FIATA World Congress will continue to add value for both Association Members and Individual Members. The gathering of the various Institutes, Advisory Bodies and Working Groups will once again give participants cutting-edge information and ideas on our industry, whilst a diversity of networking sessions will enable our members to meet with business partners all over the world in a cost-and-time efficient manner.

I believe that participants will be impressed with the business opportunities and attractions as well as the hospitality of our local host, the Federation of Freight Forwarders' Associations in India (FFFAI).

We extend to you the invitation to register early and participate in the 2018 FIATA World Congress, I look forward to seeing you soon.

Dear Partners Of The Logistics Fraternity,

Logistics industry is witnessing rapid changes especially in the recent years. Post Trade Facilitation Agreement coming to force on the 22nd February 2017, a new milestone is achieved in the global cross border trade. Pace of trade facilitation initiated by Government is swift and drastic and adopting to such changes is becoming a challenge. Logistics industry is the core center for the success of the trade facilitations and a comprehensive rethink is required in the business environment.

India has been recognized globally as one of the fastest developing economies with predications that it may reach the top slot in the years to come. Emergent trade, changing business models, need for innovative approaches, technology driven process are dominating the global scenario and India is integrating to these requirements.

Facing external and internal challenges it is better to have a global perspective of the path ahead for the logistics industry. In such a backdrop, India for the first time in the country will be hosting the FIATA World Congress 2018 between the 26th and 29th September 2018 at Hotel Pullman- Novotel, Aerocity, New Delhi.

With the prominent position that India is occupying in the global economy, the role of FIATA as dominant international player for cross border transport activities, the status of FFFAI as the apex national body of Exim trade, it is apt that the FWC 2018 is held here. India has taken the lead in progress and hence it is appropriate that the theme for the World Congress is “The Future Starts Here”.

Many countries will be participating in the event which will be a fertile opportunity for a healthy interaction, B to B meetings and gain insight of the path of industry from prominent transcontinental speakers.

I urge you to be a part of the unique opportunity, register for the event and gain by participation.

I welcome each one of you for the historical event and look forward to meet you in the FWC 2018.
